2025 Keith Wetmore 2L Fellowship for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion - Los Angeles


Morrison Foerster (“MoFo”) will be awarding Wetmore 2L Fellowships in our Austin, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Palo Alto, San Diego, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., offices to highly motivated first-year law students with a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in the legal industry. Students should apply for one location only.

 

Recipients of the Wetmore 2L Fellowship will receive:

  • A paid summer associate position in a MoFo U.S. office following their second year of law school;

  • A team of attorney mentors during the 2L summer internship;

  • Consideration for a full-time associate position after law school graduation, assuming satisfactory performance during the 2L summer internship; and

  • A fellowship award in the amount of $50,000.*

 

Morrison Foerster (“MoFo”) is seeking talented, ambitious second-year law students who value collaboration, teamwork, and commitment to excellence to join our 2025 Summer Associate Program in our Los Angeles office’s Litigation and Patent Litigation groups.


As a MoFo summer associate, you will be entrusted with responsibilities and tasks typically assigned to junior associates. This includes:

  • writing legal documents such as briefs, motions, contracts, and client memoranda;

  • participating in depositions and witness preparation; and

  • performing in-depth research on relevant case topics.

 

Summer associates will work directly with our seasoned lawyers on substantive client matters, receive unparalleled mentorship, get comprehensive practice and professional skills training, and experience MoFo’s shared values, inclusive community, and diverse practice areas firsthand.

Who You Are

  • Currently enrolled and in good standing in a full-time J.D. program at an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Have U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Have geographical ties to Los Angeles.

  • Have experience or a strong interest in working on litigation and/or patent litigation matters.

  • (For patent litigation) Have a background in engineering, computer science, physics, biochemistry, and/or chemistry.

  • The ability to bring a diverse perspective to the firm as a result of your adaptability, cultural fluency, resilience, and life experiences; and

  • A demonstrated record of academic achievement, excellent writing and interpersonal skills, leadership, and community involvement.

 

Application Process

Applications will be accepted through July 7, 2024. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis in accordance with school recruiting guidelines. 

 

All applicants must submit the following documents in .pdf form:

  • Résumé;

  • Transcripts of all degrees (completed and in progress); and

  • A personal statement of 500 words or less explaining:

  1. Your background and what led you to pursue a law degree;

  2. Your interest in MoFo and what you hope to contribute to our firm; and

  3. Concrete examples of how you have: demonstrated a commitment to promoting diversity within your community or otherwise, faced and triumphed over adversity, and/or demonstrated the ability to deepen our culture of inclusion.


*To earn the $50,000 fellowship award, summer associates must spend their full 2L summer at MoFo and receive and accept an offer of full-time employment to join the firm following law school.

 

Compensation

Summer associate compensation is set to align with first-year associate salaries at $225,000 annually for the class of 2024. This may be modified in the future. Health and wellness benefits and paid holidays may also be included.
