About the role

At Flo, we develop and maintain product solutions for three key domains: employers, students, and universities. In this role, you'll work on building, strengthening, and innovating our university product suite. You'll also have the opportunity to be an integral part of our engineering department, helping to mature our culture and coding practices.

What you’ll do

• Guide the technical direction and implementation of medium to large-scale product features

• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to positively influence product strategy and direction

• Work closely with Product Managers to groom user stories, including providing design and implementation details, estimating effort, and contributing to acceptance criteria

• Champion and contribute to our efforts in shipping maintainable, reliable, well-tested and secure code

Requirements

• 3-5 years of industry experience working as a Full Stack Engineer

• Experience with one or more prominent server-side languages (e.g. Java, C#, Kotlin, or Python)

• Working knowledge of server-side frameworks (e.g. Spring, .NET, Node, Django)

• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and experience with JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React and Next)

• Familiarity with modern testing frameworks (e.g. Jest, Cypress, React Testing Library)

• Good understanding of front-end and backend architecture, as well as test-driven development

• Experience building Rest APIs, GraphQL

• Fluency in SQL languages (e.g. MySQL, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL)

• Ability to transfer your depth of knowledge from your current language to excel as a Java developer

Preferred

• Experience with Java

• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, K8s)

• Knowledge and understanding of messaging and streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis)

• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

• Experience designing and strengthening database schema for large-scale and performant service

• Experience working in a fast-paced environment

Remote Policy

Flo Recruit is headquartered in Austin, TX. We are looking for someone who lives within a commutable distance to the office or willing to relocate. Engineers are expected to come into the office at least once a month for company-wide All-Hands. We have a central Austin office available to those who prefer to work in person.
